Weekly Update June 3
This Wednesday is the last Hyfi until next school year! This week your children will be learning that God made every one of us with value. Our Bible story from 2 Samuel 4 and 9 talks about Mephibosheth (meh FIB oh sheth), the son of King David’s best friend. Mephibosheth was crippled in both his feet and looked down on by society, but David showed him incredible kindness because David valued him. We are made by God with value. Challenge your kids this week to guess how much different items in your home cost. The TV? The couch? The refrigerator? Then, look up how much they actually cost. Talk about how there is no dollar amount to how much God values us!
This Wednesday is also the last for Refuge Students until next school year! We have a special guest speaker coming to share their testimony and journey of faith.
Make sure your child/youth is here this Wednesday! We are celebrating the end of the school year with Pizza and Inflatables!!!

There is no Sunday School this week (June 9th) due to homecoming, however, there will still be Refuge Hangout at 6pm. This week we will be taking a look at 1 Corinthians 12. The twelfth chapter of Paul’s letter to the church in Corinth encourages us to remember that all roles within the body of Christ are indispensable. Like Paul wrote in verse 17, if we all try to take on the same role within the church, we do not function in the ways God designed us. Therefore, we can trust that the gifts and interests God has given us play an important role in building up the church. Steering us away from division and partiality, this passage reminds us that we each have a role in Christ’s mission of sharing the gospel. Our differences can strengthen us if we walk together in obedience to Jesus' mission through the power of the Holy Spirit. Though we may not all be called to be pastors, we might be given the roles of Sunday School teachers, small group leaders, camera operators, sound engineers, bakers, meal deliverers, and so on for our churches. This week discuss as a family: what gifts do you think God has given you as individuals, and as a family, to build up His church?
Don't forget that VBS is only two weeks away (June 17th-20th). You can sign up here.
Even though our normal Wednesday night activities won't resume until the beginning of the next school year, we have activities and training sessions for families throughout the summer on Wednesday nights. Stay up to date with our family ministry calendar at this link.
May the Lord bless and keep you and your family over the upcoming week.
Matt Tucker out!!!
