Weekly Update September 9

Here it is folks, the most wonderful time of the year. Nope, it's not Christmas...

This Wednesday (9/11) Hyfi and Refuge Youth are back and start at 6:00pm! There are a couple of notable changes being made this year.
  • There are no Wednesday night family meals at 6:00pm (meals will only be available from 6:00-6:30pm for volunteers in the kitchen).
  • Hyfi and Refuge Students will now go from 6:30-7:45pm.
  • Check-In and Check-Out procedures will be the same as they were at the end of last year (see attached document). Remember that both children and youth need to be checked in. The only difference will be that children and youth need to be checked in at the Education Building instead of at the Fellowship Hall building.
  • The youth will now be studying through Acts on Wednesday night. Our focus this year will be placed on helping them learn how to study scripture and pray according to scripture.

This Saturday (9/14) we are requesting volunteers to meet at North Windy Ridge Intermediate School to spread mulch and weed from 8am-1pm (a light breakfast will be provided). This would be a great opportunity to get your children involved with a service project in the community. Please bring a wheelbarrow, shovels/rakes, and work gloves if you have them. Feel free to reach out to me with any further questions about this opportunity.

To stay informed on everything that is happening within our Refuge Family Ministries, please take a look at our Google Calendar. Additionally, please refer to our attached Family Worship Calendar. This calendar is a schedule for family worship at home with your children that includes every night of the week except Sunday and Wednesday. The intention of this calendar is to provide an easily implementable schedule for family worship that aligns with what kids are already learning during the week at church. It will also give parents an idea of what their kids are learning at church any given week. Every week there will be one catechism question to review with your children (remember the New City Catechism is what families are learning together in our Family Sunday School Class). On Mondays, the scripture for families to read together also comes from our Family Sunday School Class. On Tuesdays, the scripture for families to read together comes from Refuge Hangout. On Thursdays, the scripture for families to read together comes from Hyfi. On Fridays, the scripture for families to read together comes from the Psalms. On Saturday the scripture for families to read together comes from Refuge Youth (which is also the sermon text that Brent will be preaching Sunday morning). If you have any further questions about this new calendar, don't hesitate to reach out.

May the Lord bless and keep you and your family over the upcoming week,

MATT TUCKER OUT!!!
