Weekly Update June 24
Greetings Parents,
We had a great week at VBS last week. A huge thanks to all our volunteers who made it possible!
There are no events this Wednesday night, however, this Thursday (6/27) is our family putt-putt night. This event is for families, meaning you cannot drop your kids off but must participate with them. We are meeting at the church at 5:45pm, and leaving from the church on the bus at 6pm sharp to go to Tropical Gardens. The cost is $3 per person, which buys you a round of mini golf and a snow cone. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any other questions about this event.
This Sunday at Sunday School and at Refuge Hangout we are going to be taking a look at 2 Corinthians 5. One theme Paul wrote about in the book of 2 Corinthians is the forgiveness of God through Jesus Christ. He shared of his own need for reconciliation with God and how he had been tasked with taking part in the Lord's ministry of reconciliation. Paul also encouraged believers to live as forgiven people who are compelled by the love of Christ to share the gospel with others. No longer should we live for ourselves, seeking after the ways of the world. Instead, we should live as new creatures who make much of Jesus and declare His gospel!
As you talk to your children this week, consider the forgiveness you’ve received from God. How has repentance played a role in your life as a believer? What is your testimony of being brought from death to life, and how can you share it with your own children? Ask God to make the reality of His power to save and forgive real in the hearts and minds of your family members today. Just as Paul was tasked with a ministry of reconciliation to the Gentiles, we are tasked by God with a ministry of reconciliation to our children.
Finally, don't forget to check out our Refuge Calendar for a complete list of everything being offered for families this summer!
May the Lord bless and keep you and your family this week,
Matt Tucker out!!!
