Week of October 21
Greetings Parents,
I hope everyone had a great week.
Psalm 29:1-2 says: "Ascribe to the Lord, O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name." As we covered in our Family Sunday School class a few weeks ago, the word "glory" in the Bible can be translated as "weight." Psalm 29:1 commands us to give God the "weight," or we might even say reverence, due to His name. This is an impossible task. Our limited and sinful minds cannot comprehend God, much less give Him the weight that His name deserves. Psalm 29 suggests that we begin to understand God's strength and weight by looking at the mighty storm when it shakes the forest and mountains, making them skip like a calf. Even though we may not understand it, God's glory is revealed in His sovereign rule over all things, including the hurricane that hit our community a few weeks ago.
This Wednesday at 6:30pm everyone (children and youth included) will meet in the sanctuary for a time of worship, a sermon, and time of prayer.
This Sunday we will resume our Family Sunday School Class at 10am on the bottom floor of the fellowship hall building (the gym). This Sunday evening we will have Refuge Hangout from 6:00-7:30pm.
I've attached the family worship calendar for the rest of October. The Google calendar for our Refuge Ministries has also been updated for October through November.
