Weekly Update Mar 18th

This Wednesday night at Hyfi your kids will learn how God’s love gives hope via Matthew 21:1-11. We will learn about when Jesus entered Jerusalem and offered so much hope to God’s people who had been waiting so long for the Savior to arrive!
Have fun at dinner one night with a “Feast Fit for a King!” Prepare something special and have the whole family dress up in nice clothes. Talk about what it would be like to have Jesus come to dinner. What would you say? What would you do? How would you feel? Celebrate that Jesus came because He loves us, and we can have hope because of Him.

This Wednesday night at Refuge Students we will be taking a break from our series in 1 John. Joey Parker will be teaching this week, and your students won't want to miss out!

This Sunday at Sunday School and at Refuge Hangout we will be taking a look at Acts 4:32-5:11. In this week’s session, we see how the church grew in unity and gave generously to everyone among them in need. But we also get a glimpse of the seriousness of sin when we see what happens to two people who lied to the Holy Spirit. Here are the main points:
• God’s people practice generosity (Acts 4:32-37).
• God’s people confront sin (Acts 5:1-9).
• God’s people display reverence (Acts 5:10-11).

This week as a family discuss the question, "what keeps our family from giving generously? How can we commit to doing so more often?" Giving generously doesn’t just revolve around money but things like time and encouragement and friendship too. Come up with a way you can give generously and do it—whether it’s going to a local coffee shop and paying for the next order, taking care of a simple project for a senior adult from church, writing notes of encouragement and handing them off, or even inviting the new family in town over for a meal.

Don't forget that there will be a volunteer/parent training session March 27th on the topic "Gender and Sexuality Issues Facing Our Children Today." This event will be hosted at 6pm in the fellowship hall. Refreshments and childcare will be provided. Even though it is a "volunteer training session," it is open to anyone who wants to come. We will be focusing on issues such as pornography, homosexuality, and transgenderism before discussing how we can best navigate them as a church, as families, and as individuals.

I hope everyone has a great week this week.
